Lewis B. Herrington House

Title

Lewis B. Herrington House

Description

This two-story Three-bay residence is another of Richmond's examples of the American four-square house in the Classical Revival style. A low hipped roof is pierced on each side by a central gable dormer, and widely overhanging eaves have exposed rafters. A one-story balustraded porch spans the front. Ionic columns, located at each turn of the porch, support a denticulated cornice. A balcony above the central entrance continues the same type of balustrade that extends around the porch.

The brickwork of the first floor contrasts with the shingles that cover the second floor. The upper sashes of some of the windows contain latticed panes; other upper sashes contain lancet-shaped panes.
